Alaska is unusually open for this trade: it recognizes a journeyman license from any state. Effective August 8, 2025 Alaska expanded electrician journeyman reciprocity to accept applications from any US state or jurisdiction WITHOUT a mutual agreement (hence full_reciprocity = true), replacing a strictly bilateral model. Alaska still lists 13 pre-vetted bilateral partners whose licenses are accepted without extra equivalence review — Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming (Utah was removed). Non-partner applicants must document substantial equivalence. Electricians are licensed by the Mechanical Inspection Section via Certificates of Fitness. No interstate electrician compact exists.
