Streamlined — comparable certificate

Nevada is one of the friendlier destinations, but read "streamlined" precisely: Nevada issues its own certificate to a teacher who holds a comparable one, usually without its tests — it does not simply honor your out-of-state license. The requirements below are what remains, and a certificate Nevada does not treat as comparable takes a different route.

Reciprocity is a misnomer — Nevada does not auto-exchange an out-of-state license; NDE evaluates your credential and issues a Nevada license, reciprocating your license and endorsements to the closest available Nevada equivalent under Nevada regulations. Nevada is among the more streamlined states because NDE does the review on a license-for-license basis and, in most cases, waives Nevada's Praxis testing requirements for reciprocal applicants. It is not automatic: transcripts, fingerprints and the Multicultural Education coursework requirement still apply, and NDE can attach provisions to the license that must be cleared before it expires. Nevada has also enacted the Interstate Teacher Mobility Compact (NRS 391B), a second mobility route. Ignore third-party claims that Nevada reciprocates with a fixed list of about 11 states — that is wrong and NDE publishes no such list.
