Read California's agreements one trade at a time — that is the mistake most contractors make here. A deal that waives the electrical exam says nothing about general building, and a commercial agreement rarely covers residential work. The tables below separate them so you can see exactly which of your licenses travels and which does not.

CSLB reciprocity waives only the trade exam; the Law and Business exam is always required, so this is not 'full reciprocity.' Coverage is per-classification and per-state: Arizona and Nevada reciprocate broadly, while Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina reciprocate only the 'B' General Building classification (via NASCLA). Electrical (C-10) and plumbing (C-36) reciprocate only with Arizona; Nevada's plumbing maps to C-42 Sanitation rather than C-36.
